[X-Newbies] Safari 2.0 and the dreaded spinning beach ball

Hi listers

I'm frustrated.  I'm running Tiger 10.4.1 with Safari 2 on an iMac 
17" flat screen.

I have emptied caches, disposed of favicons and no matter what I do I 
get the spinning beach ball ad nauseum.  Trying to scroll vertically 
is an adventure.  It seems whenever I use the mouse I'm in trouble.

I have used Firefox and Camino w/o any problems.  I prefer Camino as 
it is really fast.  The reason I would like to continue with Safari 
is that I have PithHelmet and I like not seeing the ads.

I have also uninstalled Safari related 3rd party apps to no avail.

Does anyone have a solution and does anyone know if Apple is aware 
and is trying to solve.

I am really disappointed in Safari.  I would like to use Apple applications.
