I recommend against Symantec products and rail particularly against ever *installing* any product from Symantec onto an OS X machine. It's a cure in search of a disease (and the purported cure is more often detrimental to the patient than most of the rare incidences of the disease). If you do insist on using a utility from Symantec, run it from the CD. A good backup regimen, knowledge of the Safe Boot procedure, and use of DiskWarrior & Disk Utility constitutes most of the utility that OS X needs. More exotic procedures usually take longer than a re-initialise & restore cycle anyway. -- 'tis as said. [Reality is defined by being described]
