Because you may simply be seeing the result of the original items on 
the Dock being "aliases" that point to the applications on the old 
drive, while you're opening the applications from the new drive. So 
it's not an error, but a new icon on the Dock representing the "new" 
application being opened. When you put an icon on the Dock, that's 
just an alias being created. And when you open an application, it's 
temporarily shown on the Dock util/unless you "pin" it there.
