[X-Newbies] How to curtail indexing?

What is the best way to have Spotlight index, for example, ONLY the  
Documents folder?

It seems the only way to do this now is to drag every other folder  
into the Privacy list.

The checklist is for what appears in the results...but it doesn't  
control what gets indexed, I don't believe.

Would be nice if you could checkbox only the stuff you wanted  
indexed, in my case the Docs.
