[X-Newbies] Logitech Control Center problems on freshly installed OS X system.

I have tried installing the Logitech Control Center for my Logitech
Click! optical, USB mouse, but regardless of version (newest or
original CD), the LCC refuses to detect my mouse at all and detects my
standard, white Apple keyboard as a Logitech keyboard. On restart, I
can move my mouse, but lose the ability to click on menus, objects on
the desktop or in the dock. I am using OS X 10.4.8.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or have a solution?
