[X-Newbies] suddenly sick iMacG5

Any USB hubs, camera card readers, anything hooked to the back in a  
usb or firewire port. Also could be a bad mouse or keyboard.
You have had  a failure of a piece of hardware narrow it down to what  
is the action plan.
