Hi Mike, This still isn't what I need. My concrete problem is that when I mount my (large) Firewire/USB 2 drive, which was formatted when I used Win 2k, I end up with 7 icons on my desktop, one for each formatted volume. I don't want all of those, plus my Mac HD, USB pen drive, CD/DVD, etc. spitting out icons all over my desktop. I want to be able to access one icon, double click, and get a Finder window with all of my volumes listed, just like I can from a Finder sidepane when I press the (name) computer.
