Take a look at Carbon Copy Cloner, also known as CCC.  It is free, and  
is frequently spoken of in the same breath as SuperDuper by many  
experts who make the choice between the two a toss-up.

CCC will handle a weekly schedule and can also take care of making  
bootable backups.
