Okay, try this.

Take a really soft cloth and clean the shiny side of one of your DVD's really throughly.  Don't rub in a circular pattern; only from the center to the edge and vice versa.

Then try the DVD again.

If that doesn't help, an optical lens cleaning disk will likely help.  e.g.:
