Well, it's not so bad that you should approach it with DREAD. It's just stupid on Apple's part. Some trial and error will get you going. When you set up a user, go to the Home tab and use (IIRC) /Network/server.fqdn/share_point/User_Directory When you save the user, it will create a home directory for them ... somewhere. Look for it and if it's in the right place, great ... if not, adjust the path and try again. Why you can't drag and drop into the Workgroup manager window, I can't imagine! Anyway, once you have gotten the path correct, under FTP settings (can't remember if this is a user setting or a site setting) specify User Home or User Home and FTP Root or they won't see their home directory via FTP. Also, in Server Admin, make sure to click "Enable Secure FTP" so people can use SFTP; otherwise their passwords will be transmitted in clear text. Make sure you specify a Login Shell in the User's setup (Workgroup Manager). Users without a Login Shell will not be able to connect via FTP. This is a handy way to enable some people to have FTP and others not, but be aware that this also enables them to SSH in to the command line, so watch out whom you give administrative privileges to! Once you have all this set up, create a Saved Profile so you can re-use the settings. This will make subsequent users easier to set up. Have fun, peter
