John, i remember this happening to us with 10.2.x server. I recall being able to reduce the number by doing a reboot, but it made the 10.2 server work like windows, we had to reboot fairly regularly to reduce the problem. For what its worth, this problem went away for us when we switched to 10.3. Chris W.
