   Ditto. Got stuck, two zombies, both UID: 0 and PPID: 0. So I guess the 
   report was right, there's no easy way of finding a zombie's parent in 
   OS X.

Umm, I came in late, but the _definition_ of a zombie is a process whose
parent exited without waiting for the child to exit.

Hence, by definition, you will never find the parent of a zombie.

Kill -9 may clean up a zombie.  But, again, it may not.
