The problem might be that Mac OS X presents the fonts in different "encodings": Raanana is Hebrew and comes as Mac-Roman, TimesNewRoman from Monotype comes as Mac-Cyrillic although it supports Latin with a few hundred glyphs, x-times the volume of Raanana. I can see similiar nonsense when I try to use fonts in the carbonized GNU Emacsen.
