[X-Unix] CPU speed

Hi folks. I'm wondering if there is a web site that I can go to, to find 
out how fast my computer is running.

I'm sure there are a lot of factors in this, but it seems slow for a 2.5 
GHz?

I'm on Verizon DSL, and when I go to places like Apples web site, and 
view movie trailers, my son laughs at how slow it seems, compared to his 
speeds on Adelphia Cable. Is it likely that his cable connection is faster?

Is there any one who offers a better/faster service then Verizon (for 
the same money?)
