Mail.app version

My Mail.app says it is version 1.3.8 and dated Aug 2003.  However, I 
thought for sure some of the Panther updates also updated Mail.   Does 
anyone else have a more recent version?

I've been having troubles with Mail and was thinking about trying to 
reinstall it.  Can it be reinstalled by itself without reinstalling 
Panther?  If so, can I get to the latest version again without 
reinstalling all the OS X maintenance releases?
