Since you only have one home directory, you shouldn't need Carbon Copy Cloner. I've done this by creating a new account on the new powerbook with the same name, same short name and same password as you have on your old computer, then use target disk mode as suggested by Marc and replace that new home folder with your old home folder. You could also do the replacement using an ethernet cable with both computers booted if you know what you are doing, but firewire is usually much faster. Also, if you are buying your powerbook from an Apple store (not online) they will transfer data for free, at least as of 6 months ago; but of course you'd have to carry your old Mac in to the store, etc.
