Mail.app and Type 1 fonts

I have (yet again) switched from Eudora to Mail.app.  One problem is 
that I can't use the font I want (ITC Officina Sans Italic) because I 
don't get the italic option.  This is a Type 1 postscript font, so the 
italic version is just an outline font.  It there any way to make 
mail.app see the italic?
