[X4U] Skype vs. iChat

A PC friend of mine has been trying to get me to try Skype for a while. 
I finally did today and I'm impressed with the sound quality. One of 
the frustrations I have with iChat AV is that conversation is awkward. 
There is a delay in the sound and then an echo so you can't just speak 
normally. With Skype it was much more like being in the same room with 
the person. What do other people think? Is this because iChat is using 
all the bandwidth for video and doesn't leave room for good audio? Can 
we expect an improvement in iChat audio? What about using Skype for 
audio and IChat for video?
