Just to clarity, that's what Allan said. MtR will allow you to "rip" a DVD and change its region code. The original poster however, was asking about setting the region code on the DVD drive (not the disk). In answer to the original question, I've always heard its best to set the region of your player to the region you are in (or the region you expect most of your DVDs to be from). Some would advise setting it to "0" for all regions, but there are some DVDs that won't play on these. And while you can change the region, you can theoretically only do it a set number (5?) of times. That said, being from the US, I set mine for Region 1, which has pretty much worked for everything. And, as Allan pointed out, there are pretty simple work-arounds for the cases when you do have a region conflict. I think it would still be easier if we could just get rid of that region nonsense though. -Mike
