Hi. Not sure if this will fix your problem, but I use RCDefaultApp:

http://www.rubicode.com/Software/RCDefaultApp/

to manage the associations between URL schemes and applications (e.g. 
ftp:// -> Finder) and file types and applications. Very handy.
