Last-modified dates show they've > been modified very recently. My guess is that you're seeing the first signs of an incipient HD failure. Certainly, I've experienced mild file corruption which got progressively worse until the HD failed. I don't want to appear alarmist but do make sure that you've got an up-to-date backup just in case.
