The issue is with fonts at login. The more fonts you have the longer the login. Part of my job is graphic/web design so I've got a LOT of fonts. You have to. A lot of Mac users are designers so I imagine there are a LOT of ticked off users. The excessive login times are intolerable often 5 minutes. Apple needs to fix this problem. If I have to reinstall the system for some reason I will stop at 10.3.5 What I do now is set the auto start/ shutdown times in the energy saver panel and have the machine boot up automatically half an hour before I start work. I work at a university and we have several Macs for student use, they also must have a large number of fonts, and the students think the long login times are a joke right away they get the impression Macs are inferior and slow. > >> >> 10.3.7 was supposed to take care of some FW issues but the problem is the >> excessive login time which I hate compared to 10.3.5 but if login waits are >> not an issue... > > Haven't seen those, nor were any routinely reported while beta-testing > 10.3.7. My G4, 450 MP, 1.5 GB RAM starts up in less than a minute. However, > it's a single-uesr machine with auto-login selected.
