[X4U] Mail Account deletion - recovery?

Is there ANY way to recover mail from Apple Mail when one has removed a
Mailbox?

In switching from one mailserver to another, a new account was set up and
when functioning correctly and mail to old address was forwarding to the
new, the old account was removed in Mail. In Entourage, removal of an
account does not affect the previously received mail, but in Apple Mail,
that action removes ALL incoming and Sent mail associated with that account.

Is there ANY way to recover that mail?
