Yet, I have been running my Pismo (PowerBook (FireWire) 500mhz) with the lid closed for nearly 5 years now. The only time I open the lid is when I bring the PowerBook home on the weekends and decide to use it there. Otherwise, it sits happily under my monitor stand and monitor 24hrs/day.

Everything still works fine.
