[X4U] External DVD burners

Forgive me if we have already touched on this, I have been buried under 
a mountain of deadlines for the past month and a half...

I would like to purchase an external DVD burner for my 1Ghz G4 iMac.  
Currently, I have the combo drive, and do not want to void my AppleCare 
by replacing the internal drive.

Ideally, I would like to use it with iDVD, I understand there is a 
patch that enables external drives.  At the very least, I would like to 
back up our ever-growing music collection...we have 2 iPods and are on 
our way to becoming iTunes store addicts.

Does anyone have any suggestions for DVD burners?  I would like to find 
a good deal, or buy a used one...I'm not too terribly concerned about 
speed, as I anticipate upgrading to the two-sided dual layer burner 
when the technology is available.  In fact, I would be just fine with a 
single layer burner for now.
