When I started using Skype, I did not have the recommended Plantronic headset that connects directly to the Mac USB, so I plugged my old headphones with a miniplug adaper into the microphone port of a PowerMac G4 and found that it worked perfectly. The computer's audio output goes to a very inexpensive external audio system, so I used that and found that the sound quality was excellent on both ends. In order to use the old headphones as a mike on the G5, I plug them into a Griffin iMic which is also used as for recording from old vinyl records. My wife looked askance at the original setup, but after I showed her how to use it she found it very easy to use. Later, she got a headset from Plantronics, a low priced model made for PCs, that I plugged into the the iMic because this handles both the input and output. I am using OS X 10.3.6. Skype is pretty easy to use, and works quite well. George Harvey On Jan 9, 2005,Michael Elliott wrote: > I've been using Skype to talk to my brother-in-law in the Netherlands > with a lot of success.
