Actually, this is a distortion of the truth. Bill Gates was at the recent CES in Las Vegas and instead of demoing new hardware or software in the Microsoft Keynote, Bill Gates put on a mock Late-Night with Conan O'brien skit and discussed the Windows XP media center. The comedian (Conan) showed up and began making fun of Bill Gates and technology in general. It was all made more humorous by the the reluctance of one Windows XP system to properly show photos of Bill & Conan out on the town. By and large spectators were under whelmed by the lack of new hardware and software offerings but loved the entertainment and Gate's presentation. Somehow a Mac fanactic got ahold of this story and it ends up being spread as a Blue Screen of Death Presentation fiasco. Go figure! I can't give you a lucid report, but I heard & read that whatever computer model he was using to demonstrate a certain application came up with the blue screen of death, and later the new application he had planned to demonstrate refused to work as expected or crashed. Two for two! I imagine heads rolled on that one! keith > > Mark Des Cotes > Systems Manager/Graphic Designer > > Astro Printing Service (Cornwall) Ltd. > 3308 Second Street East > Cornwall Ontario Canada K6H 6J8 > T (613) 932-9281 Ext 106, F (613) 932-1052 > www.astroprinting.com > On Jan 10, 2005, at 11:24 AM, Keith Whaley wrote: > >> Wanna bet he just wanted to avoid looking "just plain stupid" and hung >> out to dry, like Bill Gates just did? >> Live demos are hell on customer confidence and loyalty. _______________________________________________ X4U mailing list X4U at listserver.themacintoshguy.com http://listserver.themacintoshguy.com/mailman/listinfo/x4u
