I used to buy with rebates in mind too, back when I was a full-time student in the 1980's. I lost a lot due to late submittals, or forgetting to cash the check, but I also lost some from vendors who never mailed the check (eg. Intuit for a Quicken upgrade). They always ask you to allow a long time for the check to arrive and by the time that expires, I've long ago forgotten about it. Months later I might remember, but it's too late to do anything about it. > If we'd all get smarter and submit out rebates, then they'd go away as a > promotion tool. Else they will be here for a long time to come. Or, we can do what I do now. We can all just ignore all the rebate offers and vendors will just have to offer whatever price they can without the rebates. I only give my business to the vendors that give me a good price.
