I copied that the problems started with Tiger, but I've read that various versions of OS X have caused different people to have RAM problems that they didn't have 'til updating. Perhaps quality of RAM required is increasing. Anyway it's worth a try if you can't pin it on anything else, before you send/take it to anyone for a fix.
