SPARC: Architecture owned and licensable from the non-profit SPARC International. BIOS: OpenFirmware - IEEE 1257. VME: IEEE 1014 SBUS: First a fee-less license with the spec in the public domain, later IEEE P1496. PCMCIA/PCI/USB/SCSI I don't know how the SPARC compatible market is doing these days but, I hear that Fujitsu still makes some nice SPARCS. Phil
