[X4U] Powerbook audio feedback problem

Hi all,

My Al Powerbook 15" has developed an audio feedback problem.

All of a sudden, the built-in speakers are feeding back sound through  
the inbuilt mic.

I'm trying to remember what I last did before this, and it may have  
been using Skype and a headset, through the iMic USB. But that was a  
day ago.

This feedback only started today when I started up Notetaker to take  
some voice memos. I could only stop by either muting the output, or  
choosing line in (cf mic in) as input. But of course, that means I  
can't use my inbuilt mic and speakers at the same time.

Any thoughts? the usual disk utility operations have been applied to  
no avail.
