Short story: I hooked up my iSight camera as the only FireWire device to my G4 Sawtooth desktop. I noticed that even with the camera lens switched to the off position - that the camera body stays warm all the time. This would mean that it is drawing power all the time. I don't imagine that this is good for the camera long term ... So what is the best way to handle this. - Should I pull the camera FireWire plug out - unless I am using it? - (if I use it a few times per day - then that would get cumbersome) - BTW: I know FireWire is supposed to be hot swappable - but at least with FireWire hard drives - I've heard stories that if you're not careful - one time in 1000 - you could potentially blow up your motherboard or hard drive while you are yanking the cable - so to be very conservative - the best thing to do is to shut down the whole computer first. How Safe is it to pull the Firewire plug with the isight camera? -- Thanks - RevDave CoolCat at hostalive.com [db-lists]
