You can put a complete install of Panther on it - custom install and dont install printer drivers and language packs and such extras then boot from it, do repairs and such. You can also put your home folder on it and take it with you so you have your stuff wherever you go. Now the iPod disk drive was not intended for running continually and it will get hot if you use it for your main disk. Most likely causing premature failure from the excess heat buildup if you do this for extended periods. FC Farwell
