Jim,

Before you go into Slideshow mode, look at the bottom of the Address  
bar. You'll see two buttons: Save and Slideshow. Click and hold the  
save button. A dropdown will show "Save to iPhoto" at the bottom of  
the list.

I don't know about adding music to the slideshow feature. Ask Apple.
