Does this mean that IBM is saying that 2.7 Ghz is an upper limit on the G5?

Remember, AMD opterons max speed are in the 2.6Ghz range. Is Apple being
squeezed (threatened performance wise) by the PC Dual core technology (max =
2.2 Ghz and very expensive $1550-2600)?

All true.

But since Apple is in a qunadry about processors just now, the fact that
they are chatting with the world's largest maker of PC processors sure is
interesting.
