[X4U] Tiger: random kernel panics

Hello:
	Help! Does anybody know if there is a known issue in Tiger (or in the 
new iMacs) regarding modem dial-up and PPP?  I have a new iMac that 
seems to give sporadic kernel panics while connected to the Internet.  
I have erase/installed the system a few times over already, and still I 
get the kernel panics once in a while.  Its only while connected to the 
Internet (sometimes even just right after connecting), and the 
panic.log always says something about 'com.apple.nke.ppp'.

	Note: Right after reinstalling the system (3 times already), I run 
Software Update to install all available updates, so it could be an 
issue with one of these; anybody knows of any issues on Tiger updates 
with ppp?
