[X4U] iTunes grrrrrrrr

Despite my best efforts I cannot get iTunes to 'connect' to a folder  
on another drive which has the iTunes Music folder with all my music.
I had to do an excessive and irritating amount of house keeping  
because I did not know that a Panther Disk Utility brings up non  
existing errors when used in Tiger!

I have select the iTunes folder in the 'advanced' preference and  
tried to 'add to library' but to no avail.i Tunes library remains  
stubbornly empty. Anyone any ideas?
