You could call the folks (ProSoft Engineering) that make DataRescue -- Mac
software for retrieving files from crashed hard disks and other disks that
won't mount -- and ask them if their software would work for this situation
(the PC people not closing the session on their burn).

If so, that would solve your problem in the future and you wouldn't have to
go back to the people who aren't doing their job right. <grin> Downside is
that resurrected files can be named weird stuff, etc.
