[X4U] How to connect to ftp via the Finder?

I know that it should be simple, but I can't seem to find the right  
command to connect to an ftp server in such a way that the directory  
appears as a Finder window.

I know that I can access this function from Command-K in the finder,  
but I can't seem to figure out how to connect to

ftp.tripod.com

I have a user name and password...

what is the format for entering the ftp address so that I can connect?
