the small and/or less power-hungry monitor thing is very intriguing, very cool, and potentially the difference between computing and not computing in the event of spotty or non-existent wall voltage. Consider the growing frequency and duration of so-called "rolling blackouts." Now consider that a monitor which demands to be connected to the mains, and which slurps down 45 watts or more is really something of a ball and chain, because it both restricts the type of power delivery it accepts, as well as having a pretty hefty requirement in terms of wattage. I'm pretty happy with 17", but would really like to see less power- hungry LCDs which offer the same or similar size. I predict that, before long, those who can run their computers off of wind- or solar-charged batteries will be the ones who can actually be functional and effective. nk
