[X4U] My Sony CD-RW CRX170E IS NOT RESPONDING.

Can anybody help me with this little problem? My Sony CD-RW CRX170E
IS NOT RESPONDING. I place a cd into the tray and it goes in but
nothing happens. It doesn't recognize the cd...I've tried a number of
different cds. After a few seconds the cd eject automatically.

G4 800, 768 Ram, OSX10.3.9, 2 hard drives.
