My advice is to first pin down by features, price, etc, which cameras  
are for you, regardless of Megapixels.   Go to www.dpreview.com and  
www.steves-digicams.com to make your comparisons.  There are other  
review sites, but I haven't seen any others so thorough.

Then when you have a few candidates, you'll find some sample shots  
within the reviews.  Download some, print them and then see what you  
think. You can also find pictures at www.pbase.com, a photo hosting/ 
sharing site, where you can select by camera (go to 'camera database').

Even though 5MP cameras are fine for 10x8, remember you may want to  
crop pictures sometimes.
