From the devils advocate perspective, it would seem that a program that didn't muck with the system, and perhaps just did a cursory short spin of the hard drive, with the boasting of looking for snipe, or viruses, could be a very fast and efficient program claiming that it found no snipe or viruses. And pay the man at the door as you exit.
