[X4U] "Help" not working ("VTWIN exception")

Hello:
	Recently I noticed that whenever I try to get Help for any program, it  
just opens the Help window, and stays there forever, without showing  
anything (with the spinning beachball).  The console repeats over and  
over and over and over:

2005-09-15 04:58:23.387 Help Viewer[594] Catching VTWIN exception.  
Ignoring.
2005-09-15 04:58:23.387 Help Viewer[594] SearchController -  
doSearchForAnchor - ::SearchPaths are empty

And then it proceeds to offer an error line for each search path of  
every application installed, like:

I don't know when this happened.  I tried fixing permissions but that  
didn't seem to help.  Does anybody know how I can fix this?
