Yes, I admit "useless" is a little too far, so let me revise my position: All Macs come with appropriate system software installed, and working, and you don't need to mess with it. When disaster strikes, copy the directories I listed in my original post to your backup Mac. Also, I should mention that I was looking at the prefs in Synchrnonize! Pro X earlier today and discovered that there is a way to to make it run in the background. My scheduled backups are now running without annoying me.
