[X4U] Photography users should use 3 hard drives ?

On Apple's Mac Pro Performance page, 
<http://www.apple.com/macpro/performance.html>, Apple is suggesting 3 
- 500 GB drives.

Why 3? Is Apple suggesting that a RAID 3 configuration would be best 
for the large file sizes of photos?
