[X4U] moving PICTURES folder to 2nd drive

I have done this in the past, on a different computer.  I set up the  
iPhoto directory on another drive, and left an alias for it, in it's  
place.
Seemed to work just fine.    Just wasn't sure if this was considered  
the "Correct" way to do such a thing ?    or if there was another  
more OS X specific type way to do this.
But if it's not going to cause me any trouble down the line .. (I'm  
thinking like upgrades etc ?  )   then I'll give that a shot.
