Possibly. You'll have to check at the Coolmax site. I don't have it. I'm using the Argosy external shown at <http://www.pcmicrostore.com/PartDetail.aspx?q=p:10500933> without any problems. BTW, the Coolmax one at <http://www.directron.com/hd360bu2.html> says that it's USB. USB is useless for booting pre-Intel-based Macs and that may be your problem. You need to use a FireWire external.
