[X4U] Noisy UPS

My G4, Airport and two external drives are plugged into a APC UPS XS  
900.  Recently the UPS has started making a lot of noise.  It sounds  
like a motor (transformer?) grinding away.  The noise has become very  
distracting.  The unit is not that old, I think it was purchased in  
the spring / summer of '06.  Any thoughts on how to quite this thing  
down?
