For work files, I do multiple backups to external hard disks and to an iPod whose battery is otherwise dead. For other stuff, such as music, just to external hard disks. I've got lots of hard disks, and have never yet lost files because of these backups. I also do occasional CD/DVD backups of work files, and back up some really important stuff to my iDisk.
